Fly Fishing TipsDisclaimerThis is copyrighted material exerpted from my books Fly Fishing Montana's Missouri River and Fly Fishing the Solitude - Montana. No part of this may be duplicated without the express permission of the author. BackgroundLike many other things, the longer you do something the more you notice the little things that make big differences. Sitting in the rowers seat of my driftboat or raft guiding fly fishermen over many years I was able to observe things that I likely would not have noticed if I'd had a fly rod in my hand. My job was one of consultant and/or coach rather than angler. My goal through my books, articles and lecturing was to share what I learned with other anglers. There are some things that most fly fishers know. We know that a handful of fly fishermen seem to catch most of the fish on any given river. They move like panthers up a trout stream sticking every fish in the water. They catch fish even when going in behind us on water that we got skunked on. They seem to be fish whispering or something. We wonder what they know or see that we don't. I don't pretend to know everything about fly fishing. I'm a student just like everyone else. I may have an advantage of seeing things that others haven't. I'm willing to share. Sure, I'd like you to buy my books, hire me to give a fly tying class or presentation to your club. That's how I make money to pay my bills. If you like what you find here feel free to share this website with other anglers but please don't copy what you find here for any reason without contacting me first. If that happens I'll be forced to protect my work by shutting down this part of the site. |
